Portable appliance testing is a process whereby an electrician inspects the appliances of a commercial or business property to ensure that they adhere to regulations and, therefore, are safe to use. A detailed report is filled out and comprises of details such as the serial number, make and model, voltage, fuse rating, and insulation resistance. Technicians who complete PAT forms and offer the resulting electrical test certificates are qualified to do so and are usually NICEIC or ECA registered.
Fire Detection and Alarm System Inspection and Service Reports
The purpose of these particular electrical test certificates is to confirm that your fire alarm system hasn’t been compromised and, consequently, are functioning effectively to warn you in the event of a fire. Electrical engineers will write down any observations or recommendations for actions should there be evident or potential danger or the need for further investigation or improvement. These inspections can also be conducted quarterly or over a 12 month period.
Electrical Installation Condition Report
An Electrical Installation Condition Report – formerly known as a Periodic Inspection Report – inspects and reviews the state of an existing installation, measuring this against national safety standards and IET Wiring Regulations. An electrician will look out for general damage and wear, highlight any health and safety risks, and shoddy installation work amongst many other important safety elements.
